Exchange Email: How to get back deleted items?

When you delete items (i.e., messages, folders, tasks, appointments, or contacts) using Microsoft Outlook or OWA, they move to the Deleted Items folder. You may retrieve them by opening the Deleted Items folder, locating the items, and then moving them to another folder.
 
When items are deleted or emptied from the Deleted Items folder, they are in retention and recoverable for 30 days before they are permanently deleted.
 
You can recover items within these 30 days period:



Recover Deleted Items using OWA

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to OWA.
  2. Login with your ITSC Network Account and password.
  3. Right click on the Deleted Items folder and select Recover Deleted Items.
  4. Find and select the item or items that you want to recover from the Recover Deleted Items window (tips: to select multiple items, press CTRL as you click each item).
  5. Click the button Recover Selected Items and then locate the folder that you want to put.
  6. Recovered items are restored to your specified folder.

Recover Deleted Items using Outlook 2010
  1. Login your Exchange account with Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Click the Folder menu for Outlook 2010 or the Tools menu for Outlook 2007.
  3. Choose Recover Deleted Items...
  4. Find and select the item or items that you want to recover from the Recover Deleted Items window (tips: to select multiple items, press CTRL as you click each item).
  5. Click the Recover Selected Items icon.
  6. Recovered items are restored to the folder from which they were deleted.
