Exchange Email: Notes on Special Folders

When using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Web App (OWA) to access your emails in the Exchange Server, you should note the following special folders:

Sent Items
Deleted Items
Junk E-mail

The name of these folders suggested their special usage.

The following table shows these special folders in different email tools when sending messages, deleting messages or storing the spam messages:

If you will access your mailboxes using different email tool, you need know where to locate or find your messages. You can configure your Thunderbird's folder settings in align with the Microsoft's settings.

Our recommendation is that you should stick to one email application to avoid spreading your messages in different folders (e.g. Deleted Items and Trash). If your mailboxes has been migrated to the Exchange server, you are advised to use Outlook Web App (OWA) or Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010 or above.
