How to set up Exchange on the iPhone?

You could make access to your emails, contacts, calendars that stored in the University's Exchange server with your iPhone. Please refer to Remove an email account if you need to remove an account on your iPhone.

  1. Start you iPhone and select "Settings" as shown.


  2. Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" option.


  3. To add account information, tap "Add Account...".


  4. To add Exchange server information tap "Microsoft Exchange".


  5. You will see "Exchange Account Information" input page.


  6. Input your HKUST Exchange Account information here correspondingly and then tap "Next".
    • Email: username@ust.hk
    • Domain: ust.hk
    • Username: "Your ITSC Account username"
    • Password: "Your ITSC Account password"


  7. Review your Account information here and then tap "Next".

  8. You could select your desired Exchange server features (Mail, Contacts and Calendars) here by tap and toggle to the corresponding selections.


  9. If you have selected "Contacts" features from the previous step, please read the warning here carefully. We recommend you to select "Keep on My iPhone" preventing any of possible personal data lost.


  10. When iPhone returns to Account list page, tap on the Account that you have just added.


  11. Tap on "Mail Days to Sync" option.


  12. You could setup your desired "Mail Days to Sync" option here. The default selection is "1 week". Please kindly be reminded that selection of longer period will cost you more of your iPhone memory and expensive air time.

Manual Setup

Use the following settings for your mobile device:

  • Email : username@ust.hk
  • Domain : ust.hk
  • Username : "Your ITSC Network Account" (e.g. ccjohn)
  • Password : "Your ITSC Network password"
  • Server : cas2013.exchange.ust.hk

Below are the steps to change the email sever of an iPad device (some models can detect the changed server settings automatically, please refer to remove an email account and setup an email account if you have problem changing the server settings with your iPhone / iPad after migrated to Exchange 2013):

  1. Select Settings

  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars


  3. Select your Exchange account

  4. Change the server to cas2013.exchange.ust.hk


  5. Select Done
