My Windows 7 PC is not joined to the HKUST domain. How can I print to a network printer?

For system not joined to domain, we recommend using Satellite and multi-functions Printers. To install a printer, browse to the Finding HKUST Printers page, enter the network printer name, e.g. ccl12, and click Submit. Then, click Connect on the PRINTER ACTIONS menu.

HP network printers with the following drivers are not compatible with Windows 7 IPP printing,

  • HP LaserJet 1300/1320 PS
  • HP LaserJet 4/4M PS
  • HP LaserJet 4000 Series PS
  • HP LaserJet 4Si/4Si MX PS
  • HP LaserJet 5000/5100 Series PS
  • HP LaserJet 8100 Series PS
  • HP LaserJet M1120n MFP
  • HP LaserJet P3005 PS

and the Connect printer web interface above may not work correctly. For those printers, you may use the Add a printer wizard to connect to the printers,

  1. Open the Control Panel and click on Devices and Printers.
  2. Click on Add a printer at the top.
  3. Click on Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
  4. Click on The printer that I want isn't listed.
  5. Enter the print queue name into the Select a shared printer by name boxin url format. For example, to connect to printer ccl7 on server ustms15, use,
    https://ustms15.ust.hk/printers/ccl7/.printer
    and press Enter.
