In order to keep up with nowadays business and technology requirements, ITSC has adopted the Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 as our new platform of messaging and collaboration for faculty and staff.
The Microsoft Exchange Server will replace our generic IMAP/POP server of Sun Java System Messaging Server, which has served us around ten years and with limited capabilities.
It supports syncing data with any mobile devices running iOS, Android & BlackBerry OS. For business collaboration, it supports public and private sharing of email folder and calendar data. Besides, it will open up new opportunities for other add-on applications on this unified communication platform. You can access your Exchange account and enjoy the new benefits after the migration. After the "Enabling" Step, colleagues may continue to use the email client they are currently using. The migration exercise is designed to be as transparent as possible and should cause minimal impact to most users. The recommended client platform is Outlook 2010/2011 in Windows and Mac environment which is feature rich and powerful. If you have only browser access, the web-based Outlook Web App (OWA) gives you the same extensive set of features and user experience whether you use Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. |
