What is F-Secure Software Updater and how it works?

Software Updater is a component of F-Secure Client Security Premium. It protects a PC by automatically downloading and installing updates for Windows as well as supported third-party applications, e.g. Adobe Flash Player. A full list of supported software may be found here.

Software update policy is set to install critical and important updates once a day. The update schedule of a particular PC is randomly selected and cannot be changed. If a PC is turned off during the scheduled installation time, updates will run next time the PC is turned on.

Some updates may require a reboot to complete the installation. In that case, Software Updater will prompt user to restart the PC. User may choose to cancel the prompt and reboot the PC at a later time. The PC will be forced to reboot if a restart has been pended for more than 3 days.

With the F-Secure Client Security Premium Office Installer, software update is a mandatory policy and cannot be disabled.
